The Vogue Memoirs

And just like that it began. Welcome to The Vogue Memoirs. Fashion has always been one of my interests, and as I got older it became apparent to me that fashion journalism was the field I would work in. As long as I can remember, I enjoyed and had a knack for reading and writing. Fashion Journalism draws me in because of the huge visual aspect behind it. I believe that writing, even the most boring of articles, is art. I also believe that fashion, photography, and well, art is art. Only in fashion magazines do all of these art forms get to mesh and create one amazing final product.

As the Editor-in-Chief of my high school's yearbook and the Managing Editor and Layout Editor of the school paper, I was fortunate enough to have first hand experience dabbling in layout, and with the all important visual aesthetic. Unfortunately high school, in addition to being filled with drama and just failing at times, has not been able to satisfy my needs. One thing has lead to another, and I've decided that I've gotten all I can get out of my high school publications, and it was time to take what I've learned and move on to the next thing.

Vogue magazine is the best. I will be very upfront and say that I'm not that into Vogue as it may seem. At one point I would only buy the September and March issues so I could include some detail of women's fashion in my articles back when I was the newspaper's Style Editor. But in those issues I noticed the wonderful quality of both the articles and the editorials. Vogue has a longstanding reputation for excellence, and after buying the most recent issue, I can honestly say I find the content, the work, and how it all comes together amazing, and it truly is the best. So that's why I'm creating a mock issue of Vogue. Because if I'm going to do this, I'm going to tackle the best magazine out there, even if it's not my niche.

With all of that being said, what is this issue going to be about. I present the Super issue. Celebrating Fashion and Political Superpowers, Supermodels, Entertainment Superstars, Supercities and the everyday Superheroes that live among us. Not to mention superhero and comic inspired fashion!

It's going to be a long journey. I have an operating budget of perhaps one-hundred dollars, but we'll make it work. I imagine the issue being published by mid-May. Yes, I know in the fashion world five months to put together an issue just doesn't cut it, but hey, life happens. In fact life is going to be a major part of this blog. Senior Year is such an exciting time, and it really is a crazy ride. I just finished my first semester, and it was the hardest and most intense semester of my entire life. A lot of it has pushed me to this point, and a lot of it will definitely influence the issue. These wouldn't be The Vogue Memoirs without the real life story behind the issue.

So with all of that being said, it's time to get started. Like the song says:

Don't just stand there, let's get to it.
Strike a pose, there's nothing to it.
